ESMS Spotlight

Dr. Reese Hand received his B.S. in Animal  Science from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas in 1993 and his DVM from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, College Station, Texas in 1997.  In 1997-1998 he did an internship at Littleton Large Animal Clinic in Littleton, Colorado, followed by a Surgery Residency at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine from 1998 to 2001.
Dr. Hand stayed on at Texas A&M for a year following his residency as an instructor and obtained board certification in the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in February, 2002.  In June, 2002, he became a partner in Great Basin Equine in Gardnerville, Nevada.  In September, 2008, Dr. Hand returned to Texas to be on staff at Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery in Weatherford, Texas.
Dr. Hand grew up on a ranch in the Panhandle of Texas, where his family raised ranch horses and ran stocker cattle.  He showed horses and was a calf roper in high school.  His wife Cristen graduated from Texas A&M and finished nursing school in Nevada, and is currently an operating room nurse.  She also has an interest in western performance horses.
