Board Certified Internal Medicine Specialist (Equine) Position
Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery Weatherford Division, PLLC (“ESMS”) seeks an ACVIM Board Certified Internal Medicine specialist to serve as the Medical Director at our referral hospital in Weatherford, Texas.
ESMS is a large and growing 100% equine practice. Our Weatherford Division referral hospital is state-of-the-art, employing more than ten veterinarians, including two boarded surgeons, and providing 24-hour emergency, critical care and surgical services.
ESMS is a very progressive practice utilizing the latest technologies including: hyperbaric oxygen therapy, digital radiology, gas anesthesia, ESWT, Stem Cell & IRAP, digital ultrasound, 1-meter & 3-meter video endoscopy, in-hospital laboratory, etc. We also have an excellent team, including several RVTs and a large and well-trained support staff.
Position Responsibilities:
•
Overseeing and providing clinical care to hospitalized and emergency cases.
•
Overseeing and assisting with the practice’s foaling program.
•
Overseeing and participating in the practice’s “Healthy Horse Program.”
•
Assisting with and overseeing the hospital’s Internship Program.
•
Supervising and managing the house-officers assigned to the medicine service.
•
Coordinating, attending and presenting at daily, weekly and monthly hospital rounds.
•
Providing clinical expertise in the areas of infectious diseases, respiratory issues, neonatology, biosecurity, emergency and critical care, ultrasonography, and hyperbaric medicine to enhance the quality and scope of the hospital’s patient-care program.

Participating in rotating emergency/after hours services.
•
Providing ambulatory medical services to clients at their locations.
•
Providing consultation to clients, industry, and private veterinarians.
•
Performing diagnostic ultrasonography.
•
Providing continuing education presentations and publications for veterinarians and clients.
•
Developing and growing the patient caseload.
•
Occasionally traveling to racetracks, horse shows, and referring veterinary clinics to build rapport and establish relationships with clientele and referring veterinarians.
•
Participating in regional and national equine veterinary organizations.
Requirements: We seek a team-oriented Associate with excellent communication and people skills, a strong work ethic, and a desire to provide the exceptional client service necessary to grow the caseload. The successful applicant will possess a DVM or equivalent, Diplomat status in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (DACVIM), and eligibility for licensure in Texas. Preference will be given to applicants with experience and/or interest in hyperbaric oxygen therapy, ultrasound, emergency & critical care, neonatology, and ophthalmology.

Equine Racetrack Relief Veterinarian
Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery, Race Horse Division, PLLC (“ESMS”) has an immediate opportunity for a relief veterinarian to join our team in the exciting world of equine racetrack medicine in New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma.
ESMS is a large multiple-veterinarian equine racetrack practice providing veterinary services at horse racing tracks in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Iowa and Florida. We utilize the latest technologies including digital radiology, ultrasound, extracorporeal shockwave therapy, etc., and work on some of the finest Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred race horses in the world.
Qualifications: We seek a team-oriented individual with excellent equine veterinary skills and a strong work ethic. Racetrack experience is preferred. DVM or equivalent required. Must be willing to travel with extended stays and have a flexible schedule. Eligibility for licensure in New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma required.

Veterinary Technician/Assistant – Part-Time
Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery Weatherford Division, PLLC (“ESMS”) has an immediate opportunity for a part-time Veterinary Technician/Assistant at our referral hospital in Weatherford, Texas.
ESMS is a large multiple-veterinarian equine practice offering services including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, surgery, ICU/critical care, 24-hour emergencies, lameness, reproduction, ambulatory, chiropractics, acupuncture, and wellness.
Qualifications: We seek a team-oriented, self-motivated and positive individual with strong work ethics. Must have excellent horse-handling, communication, customer service, and organizational skills, and be able to efficiently multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Horse experience is a must. Veterinary experience is preferred.
