Equine ICU Coordinator

ESMS Inova, LLC has an immediate opportunity for a full-time ICU and Hospital Coordinator at our busy referral hospital and out-patient clinic, Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery ("ESMS"), in Weatherford, TX. This position oversees the daily operations, patient care, and technical team within our hospital’s ICU and inpatient departments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, management, and people skills, with the ability to motivate and support a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment.
This role is well-suited for an experienced equine veterinary technician with supervisory experience who thrives in a collaborative setting and is passionate about delivering the highest standards of equine patient care while ensuring smooth and efficient hospital operations.
Established in 2002 ESMS is a large multiple-veterinarian equine practice offering services including ICU & critical care, hospitalization, 24-hour emergencies, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, CAT, surgery, lameness, reproduction, ambulatory, dentistry, and wellness.
Key Responsibilities
· Supervise and coordinate the care and treatment of hospitalized and ICU patients.
· Lead, train, and mentor a team of technicians and assistants, fostering a positive, team-oriented culture.
· Oversee daily hospital operations, including staff scheduling, workflow management, and client communication.
· Maintain accurate patient medical records, treatment sheets, and controlled drug logs.
· Provide advanced technical support to veterinarians, including assisting with anesthesia, surgery, diagnostics, and critical care procedures.
· Manage ICU and hospital inventory, ordering, and restocking medical and pharmaceutical supplies.
· Ensure compliance with all safety, OSHA, and biosecurity standards, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
· Participate in the recruitment, evaluation, and development of technical staff.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in equine or mixed animal hospital settings; ICU or critical care experience strongly preferred.
· Prior leadership or supervisory experience required.
· Proficient in equine handling, technical nursing care, and veterinary terminology.
· Excellent communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively with veterinarians, clients, and support staff in a high-volume hospital environment.
· Flexible schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call as needed.
· Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) preferred but not required.
