Equine Veterinary Surgery/Anesthesia/Outpatient Technician

Inova Partners, LLC has an immediate opportunity at our busy referral hospital in Weatherford, Texas for a full-time (30+ hours per week) Veterinary Surgery/Anesthesia and Outpatient Technician at Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery’s Weatherford Division, PLLC (“ESMS”) .
The anticipated work schedule will be four (4) 10-hour days (8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. ~ off on Thursdays) with rotating on-call duty.


Established in 2002 ESMS is a large multiple-veterinarian equine practice offering services including ICU & critical care, hospitalization, 24-hour emergencies, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, surgery, lameness, reproduction, ambulatory, dentistry, and wellness.


We have an excellent team, including CVTs, LVTs, RVTs and a large, well-trained support staff.


Responsibilities include:

Provide effective communication and technical support to veterinarians, surgeons, and other staff members in the delivery of primary care, diagnostic services, and disease control. Essential care duties include, but are not limited to, administering treatments, preparing medications, and taking physicals.
• Observe patients’ comfort and needs, alerting doctors of any problems.
• Assist with surgical procedures
o Prepare the operating room, placement of patient, and preparation of the surgical site
o Provide support in anesthesia for routine and complex cases by preparing and maintaining patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems
o Maintain complete and accurate anesthesia medical records
• Restrain patients.
• Assist with after hour emergencies.
• Assist in the Hospital barn, ICU, Outpatient and Ambulatory areas.
• Assist in routine lameness exams and sterile joint preparations.
• Jog with horse in hand.
• Assist in other areas of the hospital as directed.
• May require working alternate shifts, holidays, weekends, or “on-call-duty” to ensure hospital operations are sufficient.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years’ Equine veterinary practice experience, required.
• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT or RVT) preferred.
• One-year Equine Anesthesia experience, preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of all anesthesia supplies, equipment, and monitoring, preferred.
• Excellent veterinary nursing skills.
• Ability to place intravenous/arterial catheters and to perform endotracheal intubation for veterinary patients.
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to safely move and handle up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work in an outdoor environment
• Team-oriented, self-motivated and positive individual with strong work ethics.
• Excellent horse-handling, com
munication, customer service, and organizational
skills.
• Ability to efficiently multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

ESMS Inova, LLC has an immediate opportunity for a full-time after-hours ICU and Hospital Veterinary Technician / Assistant at our busy referral hospital and out-patient clinic, Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery ("ESMS"), in Weatherford, TX. This position allows an experienced veterinary technician/assistant an opportunity to provide an extensive range of equine care in a team-oriented environment.

The work schedule is Saturday, Sunday, and Monday 3:00 pm – 3:00 am. Differential pay is available for this shift!

Established in 2002 ESMS is a large multiple-veterinarian equine practice offering services including ICU & critical care, hospitalization, 24-hour emergencies, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, CAT, surgery, lameness, reproduction, ambulatory, dentistry, and wellness.

Responsibilities include:

· Support doctors and work with other staff members in the hospital by providing essential care to our hospital patients. Essential care duties include, but are not limited to, administering treatments, preparing medications, and taking TPR’s.

· Assist with after hour emergencies

· Assist in the Hospital barn and ICU areas as needed

· Monitor patients through careful observation of their comfort and needs; alerting doctors if any problems arise

· Assist technical staff with surgeries

· Jog with horse in hand

· Accurately collect and maintain client records and patient medical history

· Perform laboratory procedures

· Perform intensive care procedures for critical equine patients

· Check-in and discharge patients using proper protocols

· Clean exam rooms

· Stock supplies, and other essential duties

Qualifications:

· Team-oriented, self-motivated, and positive individual with strong work ethic.

· A minimum of one-year experience in a veterinary setting or equivalent combination of training and experience is required.

· Ability to safely restrain horses is required.

· A general understanding of equipment and terminology used in an equine veterinary practice is required.

· Excellent horse-handling, communication, customer service, and organizational skills.

· Ability to jog with horse up to 100 yards multiple times a day.

· Ability to efficiently multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry for short distances.

· Registered Veterinary Technician is preferred.
